Gameplay
How Morterra plays
You start with nothing on an island full of other players. This is what you'll be doing about it.
Staying alive
Hunger, thirst and fatigue run down while you play. Eat what you hunt, farm or pick, drink from a canteen or a well, and sleep when you get tired.
When you log out, your character stays where you left it, asleep. Anyone who finds it can kill it and take your things, so log out somewhere with walls around you.
Crafting
A few things you can make in your hands. Everything else needs a station, and you can cook on any fire.
- Workbench
- Tools, shovels and building pieces
- Anvil
- Metal weapons and armor
- Foundry
- Bars from ore, and every alloy
- Kiln
- Glass and clay
- Alchemy table
- Potions, jewelry and explosives
Skills
You level a skill by doing it. Higher levels gather faster and roll better quality, and your levels stay on your account through every wipe.

Quality
Every item has a quality from 1 to 100. What you gather depends on your level, your tool and how rich the node is. What you make depends on your materials, your level and the station. Legendary gear sparkles, so people will notice it.

Fighting
Swords, axes, maces, spears, knives, bows and crossbows, with armor in every metal. Strength adds up to 15% melee damage, Agility gets you up to 15% more swings, and Archery makes your draw quicker and your aim steadier.
Killing a player with good karma costs you karma. Drop below 50 and you're on the bounty board for anyone who wants the reward.
Getting around
Tame a horse and put a saddle on it so it stays where you leave it. For the water, build a raft, a canoe or a cargo boat with a hold for your loot. You can swim, too.
Fishing
Cast into the sea or a lake and reel in when something bites. There are 16 kinds, from sardines and perch up to swordfish and sharks.
Digging
A shovel digs, raises, flattens, tills and paves the ground itself. Seeds only grow in tilled soil, roads are 20% quicker on foot or horseback, and sand, clay and lime come from patches you dig up near the water and in the foothills.
The rest you'll figure out on the island
