Morterra's foundry update: alloys, anvils and new metals
In September 2019 Morterra added the foundry, a central stockpile where players smelt alloys such as bronze, steel and tungsten alloy. The update also added workbenches, anvils and five new metals.

The September 17, 2019 update added foundries to Morterra, two months after the browser survival game went 3D. It also brought five new metals, a revamped mining drop table, workbenches, anvils, metal construction objects, shared zones and new combat formulas. Three weeks later, the October 2019 update explained step by step how to build a foundry.
Metals and mining
We added five metal types: tin, tungsten, tungsten alloy, titanium and titanium alloy. We also revamped the mining drop table so drop rates follow how rare each metal is in real life.
Foundries, workbenches and anvils
A foundry is a central stockpile that holds an unlimited amount of resources. It is also where players alloy metals: bronze, steel, titanium alloy and tungsten alloy all have to be smelted in a foundry. Basic metals still smelt on fires.
The workbench is now the first crafting object players build. It makes tools, anvils and wooden construction items. Anvils became an item, and they are used for more advanced metal items such as armor, metal construction items and stronger weapons like the maul, mace and axe.
Building and bases
- Metal spikes, doors and chests
- Placed construction objects have 10x the durability of their item. A log spike item with 15 durability becomes an object with 150.
- Zones can have more than one owner, so players can team up and build in the same zone.
- Flags can be locked.
Locks
With the new ore rarities, gold became extremely rare. Gold locks no longer need keys, and you can use one if you have a claim on the zone. Iron is now the material for standard keys and locks, and it is common enough that new players have no trouble finding it. If you die carrying your key, though, whoever takes it can get into your base.
Health and combat
Health now regenerates faster over time when your other stats are high. Weapons and armor use a more advanced damage formula that balances the metals against each other. Stronger metals hit harder and protect more, but they generally weigh more and slow the player down.
