Morterra's raiding revamp and new 3D tree models
In April 2020 we reworked raiding in Morterra. Dynamite and bombs got new damage numbers, and raiding with tools became the slow but cheap option.

The April 16, 2020 Morterra update revamped raiding and improved the game's 3D models. Explosives, which arrived in November 2019, got new damage numbers, raiding with tools became slower, and bases now decay unless their owners keep them up. We also replaced the oak and maple trees and improved object coloring and lighting.
Raiding changes
- Dynamite deals 1,000 damage in a small blast radius.
- Bombs deal 500 damage in a large blast radius.
- Tool damage depends on the type of metal, and tools swing much slower. Raiding with tools now takes far longer but costs less.
- Spike walls have twice the durability.
- Chests have half the durability.
- Flags have only 25 durability, so placing a locked flag out in the open is no longer viable.
- Flags have to be reset every 72 hours, or your base starts to decay.
Both explosives are still crafted on the alchemy table from sulfur. A flag claims the zone a base sits on. With only 25 durability, a flag standing in the open is easy to break, and an owner who stops resetting theirs will see the base decay. In August 2020 we changed this so flags take 7 days to start decaying.
Models and fixes
- Better coloring and lighting on objects
- Completely new oak and maple tree models
- Players no longer collide with small objects such as small boulders, bushes and corn
- A fix for the flag destruction bug
- Many other small bug fixes
What we planned next
- A better minimap
- A world map, toggled with the M key
- An online player list, toggled with the P key
- Sneaking
- A 30-second timer between sleeping bag respawns
- Private messaging
Sneaking was still on our plans list a year later. Further out, we planned a friends list, clans, new player and animal models, a better PvP system and a much better highscores system. We also wanted titles for highscore achievements, such as "Hunter" for the player with the most animal kills. The friends list came in December 2020, and the bag timer and the titles both shipped in March 2021.
